"Scatlè" means something like "nested", the spruce forest is really nested with steep rock ledges, boulder debris fields and avalanche trains.
Between 1850 m and 2015 m above sea level, the 150 to 300 metre wide strip of forest stretches. The reserve, which covers about 5.5 hectares, is the highest primeval spruce forest in Europe.

During a walk, Natalie Sgier from Bonaduz paintings in the Castrischer Bahnhof underpass catch the eye. The paintings on one side of the underpass are already 20 years old – and accordingly faded.

The wooden bridge Val da Mulin is made of wood, which all comes from municipal forests. With it, a gap in the hiking network from Lumbrein in the direction of Vrin could be closed. The bridge is a good 52 meters long and 22 meters high.
