In the extensive municipality of Obersaxen at the foot of the 2064-meter-high Piz Mundaun, the "Bündner Rigi", Upper Saxony is spoken in the otherwise Rhaeto-Romance language area. The inhabited terrace, located between 1000 m (Axenstein) and 1430 m (Miraniga), extends over a length of 14 kilometers.

The garden house north of the old town, built in 1710 by the Schmid von Grüneck. Picturesque roof design with four curved gables; above the south entrance there is a sundial with the date 1710. It was thoroughly restored in 1941 and placed under federal protection.
