Segantini 04: Costume grigionese – Bündnerin am Brunnen, 1887
Baba as a shepherdess in Graubünden Sunday costume – an archetypal representation of drinking. At the time of Segantini, the water for the household was fetched at the well, washed and the animals were soaked. Today, the fountains like this one in front of the church of Son Mitgel serve only as an ornament.

From the Plazza Segantini Segantini, Segantini painted the picture of the hard peasant work in the alpine landscape. He adapted the real terrain to his artistic needs. The staging on site shows Segantini painting the picture, while his wife Bice reads to him as so often.

Segantini 14: Le due madri – Die beiden Mütter, 1889
The picture painted in the stable of the local museum Savognin is considered a key work for the representation of motherhood. The theme occupies Giovanni Segantini for a lifetime and can be seen in various of his paintings. He himself lost his mother at an early age and spent a difficult childhood.

The late medieval ruins of Casnàcc are part of the Garbald heritage, the last contemporary witness of this fraction of Bondo, which was abandoned as a permanent settlement around 1600.

None other than the famous architect Gottfried Semper designed the «Italian country house» in 1862, which was renovated in 2004 by the architects Miller & Maranta and extended with the new building «Roccolo». The buildings can be visited on weekly guided tours.
