Metal friezes outline the foundations of the medieval Curtis, which translates to royal court. In the Middle Ages, the term "Curtis" refers to a larger dominion with estates, bondsmen, special rights and administrative and agricultural courts. In contrast to the wooden buildings of the peasant population, the very prosperous Curtis of Zizers had representative stone buildings here.
