Tarcisi Cadalbert (1943-2003), known as Tarcisi, was a Swiss artist who appeared primarily as a painter and action artist. Born in Sevgein in the Surselva, he remained deeply connected to his homeland in Graubünden throughout his life, although he spent most of his life in Zurich from 1963 onwards. There he first studied law and social pedagogy and later worked as a secretary at the Tages-Anzeiger. During this time, he devoted himself more and more intensively to art as an autodidact. From 1979 he was a freelance artist.

Tarcisi's well-known and later oil paintings are often characterized by a dense, usually gloomy heaviness and choice of colors. In his early works on paper, such as the watercolours now shown in the zezzaneera, he kept his homeland, the Surselva,
with its impressive mountains and nature. The medium of watercolor allowed him to capture the fleetingness of the moment and to experiment with light, water and also colorful pigments. In the seclusion of the mountains, he found the peace he needed to reproduce this very personal visual language.

In Tarcisi's oeuvre, the early watercolors are considered an independent group of works. In collaboration with the Tarcisi Foundation, these works are now being made available to the public for the first time. They are the impressive pictures of an honest, sensitive, rebellious and sensitive artist.
