RADIO NACHT

A dramatic author's evening between performative reading and electroacoustic improvisation: The Ukrainian author Yuri Andrukhovych and the Polish Karbido Trio combine language, sound and rhythm to create a musical-literary experiment that sometimes unfolds the energy of punk. The basis is Andrukhovych's novel "Radio Night", the texts of which are performed by the author himself.
At the centre is Josip Rotsky, barricade pianist of the "Revolution of Dignity", who becomes famous as the "aggressor". Andrukhovych takes up a real figure from the "Euromaidan" of 2013/14 and continues it fictionally: Rotsky flees to the Swiss Alps, is imprisoned after a grotesque assassination attempt, and broadcasts an imaginary radio program from hiding about flight as a permanent state.
One narrative thread of "Radio Night" goes back to the play "The Extremist", which Andrukhovytsch wrote in 2015 on behalf of the Chur group "ressort k". The echoes of the Graubünden grand hotel industry appear to be a fine symbol of the fact that the political upheavals in Ukraine also affect us.
