258 Isla Sut

From the train station in Ilanz, the first town on the young Rhine, the bike route leads over a natural road to Castrisch. The historic village center with its typical fountain is protected and worth a stop. In the church attic lives a protected colony of bats. The route goes under the railway line, further over fields and meadows down to Isla Sut (nature reserve) at the entrance to the Rhine Gorge. There is a fire pit directly on the river. During a rest on the peninsula on the young Rhine, the grilled sausage tastes especially good. Refreshed, it continues a short distance along the Rhine. After crossing a small stream, it goes right through a riparian forest, under the railway line on natural roads back to Castrisch and on to Ilanz.
