Details

Description

From the village of S.Bernardino, starting from the Pian Cales ski slopes, follow the summer trail to reach Cassina de Vignun. From this point, slightly turn north and ascend intermittently steep slopes between Piz Uccello and Piz Cavriola. From an altitude of 2400m, head northeast for the final slope that leads directly to the west summit of Piz Cavriola.

Safety Note

On the Swiss national map 267S (San Bernardino edition 2009) the itinerary to the main summit is shown, which involves fairly challenging climbing on snow-covered slabs. It is advisable to follow the itinerary presented in the Ticino and Mesolcina ski mountaineering guide (available at the tourist office).

Equipment

Never underestimate the mountain. Even for the easiest tours with ski skins, we strongly recommend carrying all safety equipment. Shovel, probe, avalanche beacon, and possibly a backpack with a flotation device should be part of every ski mountaineer's gear.
