Description

The particularly panoramic hike starts from the Alp Grüm station.

After passing the station, take the trail that goes down to the right and leads to Cavaglia.

The route is very popular in summer with both hikers and bikers, but it fascinates with ever new views of the enchanting natural landscape, the Vadret da Palü, the Cavaglia plain, and Lake Poschiavo in the distance.

The comfortable mule track largely follows the route of the Bernina Line, a UNESCO World Heritage of the Rhaetian Railway since 2008, crossing woods and meadows. It passes through Stablini and La Dota before emerging in the village of Cavaglia.

Before taking the train again, we recommend stopping at the Glacier Garden to visit the extraordinary Giant's Kettles and the new path through the Cavaglia Gorge.

Hidden Gem

Alp Grüm is accessible only by train or on foot.

In Cavaglia, you can visit the Glacier Garden. Also not to be missed is a trip to the Cavaglia Gorge, descending into the gorge to admire the caves carved in the rock.

The trail is used by both hikers and bikers. If you prefer a less frequented path during the summer months, opt for the Alp Grüm - Lagh da Palü - Cavaglia trail or Alp Grüm - Val da Pila – Cavaglia.
