Description

From Alp Grüm train station, head up to the Belvedere Hotel. From its terrace there is a spectacular view of the Palü glacier to the west, the Bergamo Alps to the south and the Piz dal Teo, the Sperella Peak and the Sassalbo to the east.

A comfortable mule track leads up to the Poz dal Drago. From here take the path on the right that plunges into the larch forest of the Val da Pila.

Here it is worth making a small detour to the Lagh da l'Ombra (1995 m), a beautiful alpine pond hidden among the trees. For the detour calculate half an hour more than the time of the marked excursion.

From the pond you go up, taking the path previously left and continue the descent along the Val da Pila, a narrow valley set in a quiet area for the wildlife of Campasc. Looking carefully towards the rocks above it can happen to see chamois moving between the rocks.

A beautiful path descends gently next to the Acqua da Pila stream. You pass under the imposing viaduct of the Rhaetian Railway, cross the village of Cavaglia and reach the station of the Rhaetian Railway.

Before resuming the train we recommend making a stop at the Glacier Garden to visit the extraordinary Marmitte dei Giganti and the new route through the Orrido di Cavaglia.

Geheimtipp

Alp Grüm can only be reached by train or on foot.

Alternative route if you prefer a less frequented route than the Alp Grüm - Stablini - Cavaglia trail, traveled by many hikers and bikers.

It is worth making a detour to the Lagh from the Shadow.

In Cavaglia you can pay a visit to the Glacier Garden. Do not miss a trip to the Orrido di Cavaglia, descending into the gorge to admire the caves carved into the rock.
