Details
Description
From Glaris the path leads right along a road uphill, which later becomes a forest road. It steadily rises gently and gradually becomes narrower. The middle section through the magnificent forest over Höheggen to the Steigwald offers a varied view of the surrounding mountains and down into the impressive Zügen Gorge. While the railway line can still occasionally be seen on the opposite slope, the cantonal road is no longer audible. After about 12 km along the old Zügenweg, which runs above the Zügen Gorge, you reach the idyllic Walser village Davos Wiesen. From there, the last section leads down to Wiesen Station. With the Rhaetian Railway, you quickly and comfortably return to Davos.
Hidden Gem
The five-minute detour to the Wiesner Viaduct, the second highest bridge in the network of the Rhaetian Railway, is worthwhile and offers another perspective of the Zügen Gorge.
Safety Note
Zügen Gorge: Due to rockfall danger, the path through the Zügen Gorge is closed until further notice for safety reasons. More information about the Zügen Gorge
