Details
Description
The hike leads from Fontanivas over the suspension bridge into a magnificent, wide meadow landscape. Past Sevgein and around the Burghügel Castrisch, the path descends to the Isla Sut nature reserve at the entrance to the Ruinaulta, the Rhine Gorge. From the peninsula at the young Rhine, it is not far to Castrisch with its picturesque village center. A cultural highlight is the Protestant Church S. Gier with its 14th-century bell tower, which is under monument protection. From here, the romantic hiking trail leads through cosy floodplain forests and nature reserves along the Vorderrhein. The scenery with the Brigelser mountains and Piz Mundaun is impressive. On the outskirts of Ilanz, a stretch along the Glenner is followed again to the starting point.
Hidden Gem
Cultural highlight Old Town Ilanz: enchanted alleys, imposing manor houses, valuable buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries, and much more.
Safety Note
