Description

This varied gravel bike round trip starts in Thusis and initially leads over quiet paths towards Heinzenberg. The ascent begins early and develops into a long, winding mountain road as the distance increases. The ground alternates between asphalt and coarse gravel.

A central section of the tour is the steep gravel climb, which is a highlight both scenically and athletically. Depending on gearing and fitness, it may be necessary to push the bike briefly here. However, the alpine surroundings and the increasing expanse of the landscape compensate for the effort.

After about twelve kilometers, the Berggasthaus Beverin is reached, which is ideal for a rest. From here, the view opens up over the Beverin Nature Park and the surrounding mountain world. The further route leads over scenic sections of the Heinzenberg upper municipality before the route descends again in a varied descent towards Thusis.

The tour combines sporting challenge with impressive nature and is especially suitable for gravel bike riders who appreciate longer climbs, natural roads, and alpine landscapes.

Safety Note

The route contains steep gravel sections with sometimes coarse ground. Depending on fitness and gearing, it may be necessary to push or carry the bike briefly. The gravel sections are particularly slippery when wet. The riding style should be adapted to the weather and path conditions. Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended.

Directions

Start in Thusis. The route initially leads uphill via side roads and paths towards Heinzenberg. From about 3.6 km a steep gravel climb with longer ramps begins. After about 12.2 km, Berggasthaus Beverin is reached.

Then the route continues over scenic path sections of the Heinzenberg upper municipality. From about 14.4 km, natural roads and asphalted sections alternate. The return journey to Thusis takes place over a longer descent with changing ground. The finish point is reached after about 37.5 km.

Public Transport

By Rhaetian Railway (RhB) to Thusis. The starting point of the tour is located in the immediate vicinity of the station and is easily accessible on foot. The return is also to Thusis, making the tour ideal to combine with public transport.

Travel Information

Take the A13 (San Bernardino route) to the Thusis-North or Thusis-South exit. Then follow the signs towards Thusis center / station. Public parking is available in the Thusis area, close to the starting point of the tour.
