Along the Walserweg Obersaxen, you can hike a piece of cultural history. The more than 20 information boards, an impressive suspension bridge, and two well-equipped fireplaces make this hike a fantastic experience.

Description
Along the Walserweg Obersaxen, you can hike a piece of cultural history and experience nature up close. Some of the more than 20 information boards accompany you on the nature trail from Giraniga up to the Sassli fireplace. It continues over the 44.5 m long suspension bridge over the Schlettertobel. Crossing the gorge, about 16 m above the stream bed, can be a small test of courage for some! After a short ascent, the unique "see-through panorama" awaits you at the Plàmpoort fireplace (1676 m a.s.l.), inviting you to linger and relax. The descent to Miraniga is a walk with views into various valleys of the Surselva down to Chur and in the opposite direction to Disentis. The educational trail reflects the immediate interactions between humans, nature, and landscape with various themes such as animals, plants, mushrooms, medicinal herbs, flowers, geology, and of course, the life of the Walser then and now.
Hidden Gem
The two fireplaces Sassli and Plàmpoort are equipped with firewood and toilets. There are also tables and benches inviting you to picnic.
The "glass" panoramic viewpoint at Plàmpoort offers one of the best viewpoints in Obersaxen at this height.
In cooperation with "Best of Wandern", you can borrow hiking equipment for free at the info office in Meierhof.
Safety Note
The route should not be started in uncertain weather conditions. Weather changes in the mountains are common. If a rain front or similar approaches during the hike, you should turn back in time.
Keep your distance from cattle and calves. Do not touch under any circumstances.
Warning: You have to cross a suspension bridge about 16 meters above the stream bed.
Equipment
Good hiking shoes with a good tread, weather-appropriate clothing (rain jacket), possibly change of clothes, first aid kit, drink, food, possibly hiking poles.

From Disentis / Oberalp Pass, 4 km after Trun, turn towards Obersaxen, drive to Giraniga or Meierhof.

Limited parking options in Giraniga. Alternatively in Meierhof, from where the hike can also start.
