Bornengopass
The crown of the Surselva is an impressive and sometimes challenging circular hike from hut to hut in Graubünden. It connects the seven mountain huts in the Surselva – the Vorderrhein valley between Flims and the Rhine source at the Oberalppass, including the valleys of Vals, Lumnezia, and Medel.

Description

From Lukmanierpass the path leads over steep switchbacks into Val Cadlimo. After a short descent into Val Canaria, the path now winds steeply upwards to the Bornengopass at 2631m - the watershed at the main Alpine ridge. The descent on the north side takes us through scree fields, past colorful mountain lakes and hundreds of cairns. The hiking trail then follows the watercourse through meadows to the Piogn Crap gorge.

Maighelshütte "The Family-Friendly"

The SAC hut, staffed in summer and winter, in Val Maighels sits on the sunny slopes of Piz Cavradi on the way to the Rhine source and the four springs trail. The open Val Maighels offers a view of the main Alpine ridge with Piz Borel and the Bornengo and Maighel pass transitions.

Mineral-rich glacial moraines, steep mountain lakes and babbling mountain streams invite adventure but also relaxation. Multi-day hikes lead to the Cadlimohütte in Ticino and further to Lukmanierpass. Also, for bikers coming from Oberalppass or Andermatt, the hut is an ideal place for lunch or an overnight stay.
