Show all 6 images
From the elegant Bad Ragaz, the route leads continuously over a practically traffic-free mountain road all the way to Pardiel. Only the occasionally visible gondola suggests that a culinary delight can actually be expected at the destination.
Details
Description
This route starts at Bad Ragaz train station. The route guidance is simple because the entire route follows the signposted SwitzerlandMobile route "474 Pizol Pardiel Bike". The route runs along a very lightly traveled road, partly graveled and partly paved. First past the Freudenberg castle ruin, one of the largest castle complexes in the Sarganserland, then to Schwammboden and finally up to Pardiel.
The Panoramarestaurant Edelweiss invites you to enjoy fine Swiss specialties with a beautiful sunny terrace and a unique view of the Rhine Valley and the Rätikon, a mountain range of the Eastern Alps.
The descent can be done again via the ascent route. Alternatively, you can continue to follow route 474 over a simple but bumpy forest and logging road to Wildboden and from there via a forest road back to the spa town of Bad Ragaz.
Hidden Gem
Participate in the E-Bike Beizen Trophy: collect 12 stamps and receive a gourmet greeting at the end of the season.
Safety Note
The descent from Pardiel towards Wildboden takes place on a forest path or an unpaved road. In case of doubt, it is better to take the ascent route as the descent.
Equipment
Normal bike equipment. Functional clothing is advantageous, as a long descent follows a long ascent.
