Description
It doesn't get much wetter than cycling from Bad Ragaz to Lake Walen. The journey starts in Bad Ragaz, which owes the "Bad" in its name to the thermal water from the Tamina Gorge. The first stretch follows the Tamina river. Outside of Bad Ragaz, we ride along the Rhine embankment until we turn off under the Ellhorn towards Sargans, and after Mels, we head for the next river, the Seez, which flows into Lake Walen. Since we cannot cycle directly to Lake Walen, we turn off at Flums towards Berschis and Tscherlach and approach Lake Walen via Walenstadt.
The beach at the lake invites you to linger, and the terrace of the Hotel-Restaurant Seehof offers a place to enjoy. Of course, those who wish can also visit the car-free Quinten by boat.
On the return trip, we pass through Mels, where a short stop at the new village square is recommended. Via Wangs and Vilters and past the Saarfall and the valley station of the Pizol cable cars, the final stretch leads back to Bad Ragaz.
