Fuorcla Surlej

It is steep going up to Fuorcla Surlej, but the view of Biancograt, Piz Bernina, and Piz Roseg is unique.  It is more charming at Hahnensee, the small moor lake passed during the descent.

Description

Almost 1000 meters of elevation gain must be overcome to get up to Fuorcla Surlej, but the view of Piz Bernina with the famous Biancograt and the surrounding mountains compensates for many drops of sweat.  The descent first goes below Piz Surlej, gradually opening views down into the valley and onto Lake Silsersee. The descent to Hahnensee requires attention. A break at the idyllic moor lake should not be missed before the descent to Surlej begins. Always in view are Lake Silvaplana and Lake Silsersee, and on the horizon towers Pizzo Badile.
