Description

The route starts at the Promulins Arena in Samedan: You head towards Muntarütsch, where the first climb of the day awaits you via the alpine path to Alp Muntatsch. Even before reaching this alp, you will be rewarded with the magnificent view of the Bernina massif and beyond St. Moritz to Piz da la Margna. Leaving Alp Muntatsch behind, follow the relatively flat path to Alp Munt. From there, the Panoramatrail takes you below Piz Padella to Munt da la Bês-cha da Schlarigna, where you turn right to tackle another steep and rocky ascent. With the distinctive three peaks of Trais Fluors always in sight, you make your way over Selin towards the chairlift mountain station of Trais Fluors. From here, the climax of the trail, Fuorcla Valletta, is only about 100 vertical meters away, which you reach after traversing a rocky slope. At Fuorcla Valletta, the view opens to Valletta da Samedan, the small valley between the striking Piz Ot and the Samedan local mountain Piz Padella, which is not as beautiful seen from behind as it is from Samedan.

Now begins the descent through Valletta. At first, the path is quite steep, but once you reach the valley floor, you pass Funtauna Fraida, and the trail becomes wonderfully flat and flowing. It leads past the weather station below Sass Alv to Margunin, where the wonderfully refreshing water of Funtauna Fraida can be tasted at the fountain in front of the herder's hut. From Margunin, the beautiful panorama of the Bernina massif is also presented, and looking down the valley you can see almost as far as Zernez.

The path to Alp Munt now becomes a little steeper again. If you have enough time, a break detour from Alp Munt to Alp Muntatsch is worthwhile: homemade alpine specialties such as dried meat and cheese invite tasting just as much as the fluffy Kaiserschmarrn, which is an absolute insider tip among runners, hikers, and bikers. With this variant, you return directly to Samedan from Alp Muntatsch. Otherwise, the route leads from Alp Munt via a technically demanding trail directly through God da Muntatsch to the San Peter cemetery above Samedan. Over Chiss, the path then takes you through the village back to Promulins Arena.
