Stage 2: From Capanna Scaletta to Capanna Bovarina

A narrow, partly steep and zigzagging path leads down to the Pian Geirètt cirque. In the gorge-like upper escarpment, there are bizarre roughwacke towers to admire south of the path. Up to the group of houses of Daigra, you move mainly on alpine pastures and between alpine alder bushes. To the east of the Alpe di Camadra di Dentro, it is worth taking a look into the small gorge of the Brenno with its waterfalls and whirlpool pots. The path is well marked and avoids the paved alpine and forest road as much as possible - but is a bit steep in places. In front of us rises the striking boulder of the Sosto. From Daigra it is only moderately steep through spruce forest, partly along the Brenno through alluvial forest down to Campo. In the village of Campo there is the possibility to refresh yourself in one of the restaurants. Then it goes on a well-marked path, first steep, then a little more leisurely and finally again steeply up to the Capanna Bovarina. The route runs through high-montane spruce forest, over meadows and finally through larch forest with mixed spruce. In autumn, when the needles of the larch trees turn yellow, the uppermost section is particularly scenic

Another hiking suggestion from Pian Geirètt: Via Pass d'Uffiern, Sentiero degli Stambecchi, Lago Retico to Capanna Bovarina UTOE. (Section Sentiero degli Stambecchi marked white-blue-white, only for sure-footed mountaineers!)

The tour can be shortened by taking the alpine bus from Pian Geirètt to Campo Blenio. Timetable Bus alpin
