Description
The hut hike at Flumserberg starts at the Tannenheim Post stop. It is located directly at the Tannenheim valley station. The first highlight is the ascent with the gondola to Prodalp. The gondola slowly rises above the Walensee and the Churfirsten appear in all their glory.
At Prodalp, a forest road begins, which after a few kilometers changes to a narrow hiking trail. It leads through forests, past flower meadows and cow herds. Soon the mountain inn Panüöl approaches before reaching the Spitzmeilenhut. After Alp Fursch follows a steep but short ascent and the last kilometers to the Spitzmeilenhut. It is situated at 2,087 m above sea level and was built over 110 years ago. Above the clouds, you can admire the sunset before the next day’s 1,200-meter descent to Weisstannen. The path leads over Madchopf via Galans with views of the Churfirsten and Alvier ranges. From Weisstannen, the bus returns to Sargans train station.
Hidden Gem
A insider tip is the Madseeli. The small mountain jewel is 10 minutes away from the Spitzmeilenhut.
Safety Note
Snowfields are possible on high-altitude sections into the summer months.
