Description
The cross-country trail starts at the Savognin Ski School, runs across fields in the La Nars plain, and returns along the river Julia. The trail is located at the foot of Piz Arlos with a wonderful view of the east and west sides of Savognin.
You can easily imagine how horse-drawn carriages used to travel here towards the Julier Pass at the beginning of tourism in the mid-19th century. The journey was laborious and arduous, especially in the cold season. The winter routes over the pass were laid out and maintained with great effort by the so-called Ruttner with their horses and mules.
Cross-country skiers in the 21st century have it much easier: their path has no ascent at all. The route is suitable for beginners and children, as well as for evening training. Due to its location in the valley basin and the winter sun position, the temperatures here are always very low. This allows the trail to be created and used very early in the winter season.
At the La Nars sports arena, there are public toilets, changing rooms, and showers. The La Nars restaurant offers hot and cold meals as well as snacks.
Which trails are open can be seen in the winter sports report.
Cross-country passes for using the trails are available at Tourism Savognin Bivio Albula AG, Ski School Savognin, Bivio information office, or at sports shops in Savognin and Bivio.
