Description

Note: Detour in the Caischavedra area until further notice!

The route is detoured in the Caischavedra section. Please observe the signage on site. We ask for your understanding and wish you a pleasant route!

Start in Val in the Val Sumvitg. The first 400 meters can be walked comfortably on the valley road. Now the steep mountain hiking trail leads sweat-inducing towards Alp Naustgel. The higher we get, the more barren the alpine pastures become. On the ridge of Garvera, the over 1000 meters of altitude that we already have in our legs are rewarded with a magnificent mountain view. Behind us are the foothills of Piz Medel, in front among others the panorama of the glacier mountains of the Tödi massif and the Oberalpstock.

An extensive break is therefore well deserved in any case.

Over Alp Soliva and Lag Grond, which is not really "Grond" (large), the descent leads to the slightly larger Lag da Laus. Now it is time to grill, soak your feet and gather motivation for the last two hours of walking time. Fortunately, it goes almost only downhill from here. After about 8 hours of pure walking time, you definitely deserve a stop at the mountain inn Ustria Val Sumvitg.

Hidden Gem

Stopping for a meal or even staying overnight at the Ustria Val Sumvitg is worthwhile. This way you can start the route early and finish it relaxed. The Bus Alpin cannot be used because the timetable is not adjusted to this long route.

Safety Note

The route should not be attempted in uncertain weather conditions. Weather changes are common in the mountains. If a rain front or similar approaches during the hike, you should turn back in time.

Equipment

Good hiking boots with a good tread, weather-appropriate clothing (rain jacket), first aid kit, drink, food, possibly hiking poles
