Description

The starting point of this tour is Brigels. Leaving the village, you take the road to Waltensburg after passing Hotel Kistenpass. Soon, the surface changes to gravel, and after a few bends, you will reach the signpost "Ruina Grotta." This castle ruin, dramatically built into the rock, is definitely worth a visit.

From the village of Waltensburg, the tour quickly leads to the next castle ruin, Munt Sogn Gieri, as it is called in Romansh. There is even a barbecue area here. The following single trail will excite you and give you the energy needed for the long climb to Lag da Pigniu, a continuous ascent of 733 meters in elevation.

You will be amazed by the towering gray rock walls and the waterfall at the far end of the lake.

The route continues via Andiast and Migliè without any major difficulties, inviting you to fully enjoy the ride. However, after passing the valley station of the ski lifts above Waltensburg, be prepared for one final counter-ascent that will test your endurance.

Geheimtipp

The route has been signposted as a SchweizMobil route with the number 225 since early summer 2023.

The single trail around Lag da Pigniu (Panixer reservoir) is closed to bikers. However, riding along the gravel road to the far end of the lake is well worth it due to the impressive rock formations and the stunning waterfall.

For those up to the challenge, there is a short but extremely difficult and steep single trail at the western end of the dam. Riding cautiously and respecting hikers is, of course, essential. You will automatically reconnect with Route 225 afterward.

Sicherheitshinweis

Respect other trail users - trail tolerance!

The tour should not be undertaken in uncertain weather conditions. Weather changes are frequent in the mountains. If a rain front or similar is approaching during the hike, you should turn back in good time.
