Description

The start of this route is Brigels. Leaving the village, take the road after Hotel Kistenpass towards Waltensburg. Soon the road surface changes to gravel, and after a few bends, you come to the signpost "Ruina Grotta". This fortress ruin "hanging" in the rock is definitely worth a visit.

Through the village of Waltensburg, the route soon leads to the next fortress ruin, Munt Sogn Gieri, as it is called in Romansh. There is even a barbecue site here. The following singletrail will thrill you and give you energy for the long climb to Lag da Pigniu. It is supposed to be 733 meters of altitude in one go.

You will be amazed by the gray rock walls and the waterfall at the end of the lake.

The onward journey via Andiast and Migliè poses hardly any difficulties and invites full enjoyment. After the mountain railway valley station above Waltensburg, however, you must mentally prepare again for an ascent.

Hidden Gem

The singletrail around the Lag da Pigniu (Panixer reservoir) is subject to a riding ban. However, the ride on the gravel road to the end of the lake is still worthwhile due to the very impressive rock landscape and the waterfall.

If you are skilled, you can take the short and very difficult and steep singletrail under the western end of the dam tunnel. Careful riding out of consideration for hikers is of course expected here. You will then automatically return to route 225.

Safety Note

In uncertain weather conditions, the route should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar comes up during the route, you should turn back in good time.

Respect other trail users - trail tolerance!
