Description

Thanks to the leisurely ascent on forest roads, we classify this trail as a "pleasure route". It can snow a little, which makes the hiking experience through the winter forest even more enjoyable. We start at the parking lot near the chapel in Cavorgia and follow the signs in a southeast direction. Tracks of hares, squirrels, deer, and stags can be found everywhere, and we hear the fine chirping of the great tits. If we remain calm, the chances are good that an animal will cross our path. Upon reaching the Maiensässen, we hike in a loop over the pretty forest clearing and then look for a nice spot to rest. On the way back, we shorten the route to Cavorgia across open terrain, which is a special pleasure when there is fresh snow.

Hidden Gem

In midwinter, the sunshine duration is rather short, but the winter forest is especially charming when it snows.

Safety Note

The route is marked, but we recommend that visitors unfamiliar with the area print out and take along the topographic map.

Directions

At the parking lot in Cavorgia, we follow the signs in a southeast direction. We hike on a forest road to a first junction, where we turn right. A further fork follows; this time we turn left again. At the clearing by the Maiensässen, a loop is marked. The return route follows the same path in the middle section. However, at the junction of the forest road through the woods, it is possible to hike straight down to Cavorgia.
