Description

On the three-day mountain bike hut route through the alpine mountain world of Mittelbünden, two of the most extraordinary mountain huts are visited: the Heimeli mountain hut in the Walser village of Sapün and the Sulzfluh mountain hut, which is charmingly embedded in the impressive landscape below the Sulzfluh. But the route also excels in terms of trails. Thanks to the section from Medergen to Sapün, the Durannapass with the descent to Küblis, and the route from Stelser See down into the Prättigau, there are three great but little-known trail highlights of Graubünden on the plan.

Starting point: The Mittelbünden hut route starts in Tschiertschen. Ideally, one travels by car or public transport to Chur and from there takes the post bus to Tschiertschen. Bringing mountain bikes is easily possible as each post bus is equipped with a rear rack for up to five bicycles.

Requirements: The Mittelbünden hut route is a three-day mountain bike route in the region between Chur, Arosa, and Davos. The climbs are mainly done under your own power and lead over well-ridable paths. The sections from Chur to Tschiertschen and from Küblis to St. Antönien are covered by post bus. The descents are mainly on smoothly runnable single trails, but experience in alpine mountain biking is an advantage. All luggage for three days is carried in a backpack on the hut route; there is no luggage transport. However, the selected huts offer hotel standards.

E-mountain bike: The Mittelbünden hut route can also easily be done with an e-mountain bike. However, experience in battery management is necessary to reach the stage destination with one charge. There are sockets in the huts to charge the battery. It is important to bring your own charger.

Stages:

1st stage from Tschiertschen to Sapün
