Morteratsch
This run is a 'must' for every trail runner visiting the Engadin for the first time, as it leads through a quiet, intimate valley landscape with magnificent views of the Morteratsch Glacier and the crown of its snow-covered mountains.

Description
From Pontresina station, the path leads through the Taiswald forest and crosses the tracks in front of Surovas station, before later a narrower path winds its way through the sparse forest up the Bernina valley – don’t miss the junction on the right about 2.5 km after the start of the run! Enjoy this section of pleasant ups and downs, then follow the right fork, which is signposted towards the Boval hut. After a short climb crossing babbling mountain streams, the majestic Morteratsch valley with its magnificent mountain scenery comes into view. Pause for a while before descending to the valley floor and then, running leisurely uphill, approach the glacier tongue of the third longest glacier in the Eastern Alps. Enjoy the silence at the end of the valley before returning to Morteratsch station for a well-deserved rest before the journey back to Pontresina. However, if you still have lots of energy, you can, of course, run back to the starting point as well.
