Description

We comfortably take the train to Tschamut, where our bike adventure begins. From here, it goes almost entirely downhill – ideal for the whole family.

The first section leads us downwards on a simple trail to Selva. Shortly before Selva, there is a singletrail (up to the golf course) that requires some skill but is doable.

In Selva, we change sides of the Rhine. Below Rueras, there is a nice playground with a barbecue area – perfect for a break. Then we roll on asphalt through the forest, past the Vorderrhein power station, to the bathing lake Lag da Claus. In summer, the warm water invites swimming, and there are snacks and ice cream on the sun terrace.

After the break, a short but steep climb back to the main road awaits – we take it with some patience. From Bugnei, it’s easy again: via Mompé Tujetsch and Segnas, it goes comfortably downhill to Disentis.

Hidden Gem

The kiosk by the lake supplies us with food and drink or an ice cream.

Safety Note

Suitable for children from about 12 years. Between Tschamut and Selva, the singletrail is only conditionally rideable for children, but alternatively, you can also ride on the pass road to Selva.

Equipment

Don't forget your swimwear!

Directions

Tschamut can be reached by the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn, which transports the bikes of the whole family. From here, we ride down the road to Tschamut and then ride a short distance down the pass road. Immediately after leaving the village, the route turns right onto the hiking trail that leads down to the golf course of Selva. As soon as the natural road is reached, we turn left onto it and ride through the golf course to Selva. Just before the first houses, the route turns right onto the natural road, which leads down to the bridge. We pass through the gate and ride the natural road shortly but steeply uphill and then follow the medium-wide natural path downhill. Shortly before the Rueras campsite, the natural road flows into an asphalt road. We continue straight ahead on this and uphill to Foppas above Surrein. As soon as we leave the forest, a short singletrail branches off to the left, which can be used as a shortcut to get to Surrein. Alternatively, you follow the asphalt road to the next junction, where the road leads left to Surrein. We ride out of the village down to the junction, turn right there, and a few meters later reach the bathing lake Lag da Claus. From Lag da Claus, the route continues along the asphalt road to Sedrun. In Sedrun, we turn right onto the cantonal road and leave the village. At the Bugnei signpost, we turn left and ride up to the Bugnei train station. We cross the tracks and immediately turn right again onto the Senda Sursilvana. This leads us back to Disentis.
