Details
Description
We load our bikes on the train and ride to Tschamut. Here the family fun begins. Always downhill and with little power we roll down to Selva. On the single trail from the main road to the golf course we need some skill, but afterwards the paths are wider again and less demanding. Alternatively, we can ride on the pass road to Selva.
In Selva we change to the other side of the Rhine. Below Rueras we pass a playground, where there is a barbecue in case lunch is planned. On asphalt we continue through the forest and past the power station Vorderrhein to the bathing lake Lag da Claus. The water reaches a pleasant temperature in summer, the terrace is open in nice weather where you can get small snacks or ice cream.
The short climb up to the main road is perhaps a bit difficult after the long break and just has to be endured. But then we relax again from Bugnei on. Easy peasy it goes via Mompé Tujetsch and Segnas down to Disentis.
Hidden Gem
The kiosk by the lake provides us with food and drink or an ice cream.
Safety Note
Suitable for children aged 12 and over. Between Tschamut and Selva, the single trail is only partially rideable for children, but you can alternatively ride on the pass road to Selva.
Equipment
Don't forget your swimsuits!
Directions
Tschamut can be reached with the Matterhorn Gottard Bahn, which transports the bikes of the whole family. Here we drive down the road to Tschmut and descend a short distance on the pass road. Immediately after leaving the village, the tour leads to the right onto the hiking trail that leads down to the golf course of Selva. Once we reach the dirt road, we turn left onto it and drive through the golf course to Selva. Before the first houses, the tour turns right onto the gravel road, which leads down to the bridge. We pass the gate and drive up the unpaved road briefly but steeply and follow the medium-wide natural path down the valley. Shortly before the campsite of Rueras, the dirt road joins a tarmac road. We continue straight ahead and up to Foppas above Surrein. As soon as we come out of the forest, a short single trail branches off to the left, which can be used as a shortcut to get to Surrein. Alternatively, follow the tarred road to the next crossroads, where the road leads left to Surrein. We drive out of the village down to the crossroads, turn right there and a few meters later we meet the Lag da Claus bathing lake. From Lag da Claus, the tour leads along the tarred road to Sedrun. In Sedrun we turn right onto the cantonal road and drive out of the village. At the Bugnei signpost we turn left and drive up to the Bugnei train stop. We cross the tracks and immediately turn right again onto Senda Sursilvana. This leads us back to Disentis.
