Description

Ardez is a typical Engadine village. The route leads through the impressive farmhouses with painted and sgraffito-adorned facades and terminates in a mountain road. Uphill cyclists pass through a varied alpine landscape to the alpine settlement of Munt. It is located on a sunny terrace on the south-facing slope with a view of the Lower Engadine Dolomites. From the tree line, the flora presents itself particularly varied and colorful in summer - compensating for the effort of the ascent to Murtera Dadoura at 2,142 meters. At the alpine hut, which was a filming location for the Schellen-Ursli film, it soon goes downhill. The path becomes a real picture-book trail: along the flank of the Piz Cotschen, you enjoy the magnificent view of the striking peaks on the opposite side of the valley. You reach the Alp Sura at the entrance to the Val Tuoi. Then follow the singletrails first through alpine pastureland. Afterwards, it goes through a bright larch forest down to the village of Guarda, the home of Schellen-Ursli. The beautiful houses with their massive arched doors, bay windows, and decorations are worth a stop. For the care and preservation of the village's appearance, Guarda received the Wakker Prize in 1975. The return journey to Ardez then takes place comfortably on the road free of motorized traffic via the hamlet of Bos-cha.
