Ofen ski route

The piste and rescue service only monitors and controls the marked and open slopes and freeride routes. Outside operating hours, the slopes and freeride routes are closed and are not secured against hazards such as avalanche blasting or piste machines with winches!

Outside the slopes or when they are closed, as a ski tourer, you are in the free ski area and must take appropriate precautions. This includes assessing alpine hazards, reading and applying the avalanche report, and having and being able to use avalanche equipment. Because even in a closed ski area, avalanches can sometimes occur.

The question of the right equipment for ski touring is not easy to answer! It depends on the season and weather conditions as well as on the type and duration of the tour. Additionally, difficulty, altitude, and other factors must be considered. Basically: as little as possible, as much as necessary!
