Description

We start our hike very leisurely along the railway line to Bugnei, where we cross the elegantly curved viaduct of the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway. Also on the following ascent on the forest road, there is still plenty of space and breath left to chat with each other.

Only when we turn off onto the steeper hiking trail to Bostg do we notice how good our fitness is. Between tall firs and blueberry bushes, we hike towards our destination. Dead trees recall the "Viviane" storm of 1989, which caused a lot of damage here. But the young forest is now richer in species than before. As soon as we reach the treeless summit of Bostg (Piz Plaun Grond), a 360-degree view of an impressive mountain panorama opens up. To the north the rocky towers of Piz Ault and Piz Acletta, and to the south Piz Medel with its glacier. Deep in the valley we see Disentis with its magnificent monastery. After a very short descent to a small saddle, the high trail "Senda Pauli", known for its flower diversity, leads us to the cable car station Caischavedra.

With the cabin we swing down again into the valley and take the train back from Acla da Fontauna to Sedrun.

Hidden Gem

The terrace of the panorama restaurant in Caischavedra leaves nothing to be desired in terms of cuisine and view.

Safety Note

Fairtrail: Hikers partly share the trail with mountain bikers.

Equipment

Blueberries are ripe in July or August.

Directions

From Sedrun train station we follow the signposts of the Senda Sursilvana to Bugnei. Then we turn left onto a forest road to point 1690. Now a hiking trail branches off to the right towards Plaun Grond. After a short descent (about 50 meters) we follow the Senda Pauli, which leads us to Caischavedra.
