Passo del Gallo - Val Mora: On the trail of two highlights of the Val Müstaïr

Show all 8 images

An extension of the classic route "Val Mora – A Feeling of the Canadian Wilderness," for those who are looking for even more singletrails and want to lengthen the route a bit.
The starting point is the Ofenpasshöhe (Süsom Give), which can be reached by bus from Müstair or Zernez. Right next to the pass road begins the first highlight! You reach Buffalora on a flowing trail, where the climb to Juf Plaun leads.
Instead of going directly into Val Mora, you reach the Passo del Gallo at the Italian border. The subsequent trail with a view of Lago di Livigno is one of the best trails in the Alps. Nicely flowing and well built in the terrain! Only at the end of the trail is there a short pushing section. Afterwards, you reach the lake landscape Lago di Cancano, where there are also various guesthouses.
Over the Passo Val Mora you reach the Val Mora Gorge, which gradually opens and is continuously rideable. The further you ride towards Döss Radond, the more the Val Mora opens up. The unique landscape is a reason why you are here in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. From Döss Radond, you can either ride back to St. Maria on the forest road or on singletrails. The trails created by local bikers lead down the hiking path next to the forest road.
A insider tip is the trail from Palüetta (1716 m above sea level) down to Sta. Maria. At this curve, a woodcutter guarding the entrance as an impressive wooden sculpture not to be overlooked marks the entrance to one of the most exciting singletrails in this area. The intermediate singletrail is an insider tip and is very smooth to ride.
