Description

Peter's Long Trail combines the best natural experiences on the Wangser side of the Pizol in one trail. On the one hand, it leads to the viewpoint mountain Garmil, from where wide views into the valley, towards Rätikon, and towards Walensee with Churfirsten beckon. In addition, you pass the well-known 5-lakes hike in the opposite direction. Along the way, mountain lakes with different colors entice.

From the Pizol hut at over 2,200 m above sea level, it goes back towards Furt and with the gondola back to the valley. Before that, however, you should take the opportunity to let your gaze wander. On beautiful days, views as far as Lake Constance are possible.

Hidden Gem

Trail running workshops take place on various dates at the Pizol. They are accompanied by certified running guides and professional athletes.

Safety Note

Bring enough food and time.

Equipment

Normal trail running equipment (trail running shoes recommended everywhere). Bring enough food and drinks (self-catering principle). Maps and mobile phone with good reception.

Directions

We take the gondola from Wangs to Furt. From there, we walk towards Wasserwald and then follow the zig-zag trail to Fürggli. The further path to Garmil leads across an alpine meadow. Upon arriving at Garmil, we enjoy the great view before continuing on a varied mountain path to the old Alp Gaffia. Here, we enter the 5-lakes hike in the opposite direction. A challenging, varied, and well-known route leads us past an impressive stone cairn field, the Baschalvasee, Schwarzsee, Schottensee, and Wildsee to the intermediate destination Wildseeluggen at 2,493 meters above sea level. The view of the Pizol glacier and the surrounding mountains compensates for the great effort. We reach the last of the five lakes by walking downhill from Wildseeluggen towards the Pizol hut. Shortly after the Pizol hut, Wangsersee is waiting on the right. Our route then continues downhill towards Furt. On forest and hiking paths, we pass Alp Gaffia, which we crossed during the ascent, and then back to the starting point Furt. To avoid the long descent, the chairlift can also be used. From Furt, we take the gondola back to Wangs.
