Description

From Pfäfers the hiking path leads us through the forest up to Furggels in the St. Margrethenberg high valley. From Furggels we ascend to the striking Pizalun with an impressive panoramic view of the Rhine Valley, into the Prättigau, and to the Churfirsten. Climbing the 20 m high rock tower via a vertical iron ladder is recommended only for those without vertigo. We continue hiking, passing the mountain inn to Fürggli and to Grueber Allmeind. At Golerberg, the magnificent view is worth a short stop again. The next destination is Alp Maton; partly we see into Calfeisental and to Vättis, the most remote village of the Taminatal, famous for the finds of cave bear bones in the Dragon's Cave. On this section, we experience impressive fauna and flora. We hike past the Alp Maton hut towards Chimmispitz, where we admire the impressive panoramic view once more. The descent takes us back to Grueber Allmeind, then via Grueb and Sennhus back to Furggels, our starting point. On both sides of the road, old barns and houses still testify to the heyday of the Pfäfers monastery.
