Pfäfers - Furggels - Chimmispitz - Pfäfers

Details
Description
From Pfäfers, the hiking trail leads us through the forest up to Furggels in the high valley of St. Margrethenberg. From Furggels we climb up to the striking Pizalun with impressive panoramic views of the Rhine Valley, Prättigau and the Churfirsten. Climbing the 20-metre-high rock tower via a vertical iron ladder is only recommended for people with a head for heights. We hike on past the mountain inn to Fürggli and Grueber Allmeind. At Golerberg, the magnificent view is worth another short stop. The next destination is Alp Maton, with partial views of the Calfeisental and Vättis, the rearmost village in the Tamina Valley, which became famous for the discovery of cave bear bones in the Drachenloch. On this section of the route, we experience impressive fauna and flora. We hike past the Maton alpine hut to the Chimmispitz, where we can once again admire an impressive panoramic view. The descent takes us back to Grueber Allmeind, then via Grueb and Sennhus back to Furggels, our starting point. To the left and right of the road, old stables and houses still bear witness to the heyday of the Pfäfers monastery.
