A gem for powder snow enthusiasts. (SAC-WS)
Details
Description
It has freshly snowed! In Fuorns we buckle on the skis and first ascend over open terrain, later through a sparse forest with partly gnarled firs up to the distinctive red building of the goat Alp Puzetta. Those who prefer a very easy ascent until here use the snow-covered forest road. About 300 goats spend the summer on this alp; in winter, we are alone here and the silence is total.
After the alp, the ascent continues evenly past the last firs. Deep below us lies the Val Medel, and we have increasingly clear views all the way to Disentis and almost to the Lukmanier Pass. Upon reaching the summit, we are almost surprised by the mountain range of Piz Medel, having the feeling that we are almost standing at the same height. The descent takes place along the ascent route, with plenty of space for parallel turns.
Hidden Gem
If there is a lack of snow in the lowest part, we ascend on the forest road up to Alp Puzzetta and also take this for the descent.
Directions
We ascend almost in a straight line from Fuorns to the summit.
