Description

The outdoor fitness trails in the Heidiland holiday region consist of over 30 uniformly signposted running routes from a total of 10 stations, forming one of the largest outdoor fitness parks in the Alpine region. The Rhein Trail is one of four running routes around the Bad Ragaz station.

The starting point for this 11.1 km long trail is the information point of the Bad Ragaz station near the Giessenpark outdoor pool (503 m above sea level). The first meters of the trail run on a wide and well-maintained gravel path through the forest along the Rhine. From there, the trail crosses the main road and then runs almost straight along the Rhine dike and the edge of the forest to the Tardis Bridge near Landquart (521 m). As soon as you cross the bridge, it goes back towards Bad Ragaz on the other side of the Rhine. On this side of the Rhine, the road is firmer and partially even paved, making it very popular with cyclists. Since the path is located a few meters away from the water, it runs right through a romantic mixed forest. However, the view of the Rhine is never completely blocked! After crossing the main road connecting Bad Ragaz with Maienfeld again, the trail continues along the dike to the railway crossing at the Heidiland rest stop (504 m). This section has a slightly narrower path and denser forest. After crossing the Rhine once more, a short paved section on the road leading into the village follows. Shortly after crossing the railway bridge, the trail turns back into the forest and via the Rhine dike leads back to the information point at the Giessenpark outdoor pool.
