Round route from Thusis to Ilanz on both sides of the Hinterrhein and Vorderrhein through unique and impressive landscapes with spectacular views into the Rhine Gorge.
Details
Description
An impressive route through diverse landscapes along the wide valley floor of the Hinterrhein and along the unique Rhine Gorge in the lowest section of the Vorderrhein, the Ruinaulta, to Ilanz.
The section from Ilanz via Laax to Tamins runs on the heavily trafficked cantonal road. Attention: before Flims and in Trin-Mulin, switch to the road through the village and do not use the bypass tunnels.
At Tamins, turn right down into the historic hamlet of Reichenau, where the Vorderrhein and Hinterrhein merge. After crossing the bridge over the Vorderrhein, the route continues via Bonaduz to Rhäzüns and on the left side of the Hinterrhein to the Rothenbrunnen junction, where it switches to the other side of the river. In the valley floor of the Domleschg, follow the right river bank leisurely back to Thusis.
