Description

Following the traces of the Romans, you hike along the old trade route through the historic Porta Romana area. From Bad Ragaz station, take the bus to the Fluppi stop or walk past the golf courses to Rosenbergli. Here the ascent begins. You hike over the terraced terrain to the Wartenstein ruin and the St. George Chapel. After a final ascent, you reach the former Pfäfers monastery with its baroque monastery church and the large beech tree in the magnificent monastery garden. Passing the village lime tree, you reach the village end, where a hiking trail leads under the Tamina bridge and over Falur back to Bad Ragaz. It is recommended to conclude the power place round walk in the warm, invigorating water of the Tamina thermal baths.

Hidden Gem

At the Wartenstein ruin is also the Schwitter family farm. Besides their Portaser wine, you can also find dairy products in the farm shop.

Safety Note

The ascent from Fluppi to the Wartenstein ruin is partially quite steep.

Equipment

Normal hiking equipment. Depending on the weather, good footwear (hiking boots) is recommended; otherwise, light trekking shoes are sufficient for the route.
