Description

From the PostBus stop «S-charl» about 3 km/320 altitude meters on a gravel road along the Clemgia stream to Alp Praditschöl. On the left the forest God Tablasot and on the right God Schombrina. At Plan d’Immez the valley becomes more open. At the fork to Alp Praditschöl (information board Piz Amalia) head towards the Alp and then ascend the grassy slope on the left. Geographically always on the right of the stream. Some trail marks/animal paths visible. The ascent to the peak is almost 4 km long, overcoming 884 altitude meters. Facing uphill, first keep right on the broad ridge between Piz Mezdi and Piz Amalia up to the vegetation line (2400 – 2500 m). Then keep left and ascend to the saddle between Piz Mezdi and Piz Amalia at the valley end. Scree to gravel, snowfields in early summer. From the saddle (about 2750 m) climb the north ridge to the summit. No special difficulties, trail traces present. Rewarding panoramic view from the Silvretta group over Piz Sesvenna to Val Müstair and Ortler. Return the same way to Alp Praditschöl and to S-charl. Depending on preference, choose a gentler or more direct descent route.

Note about the route: Be aware that from Alp Praditschöl no trail markings are available.

Alternative: Choose a detour via Alp Astras (mountain inn) and return through God da Tamangur, Europe’s highest larch forest, to Plan d’Immez. Later switch to the left side of the river and follow the path to S-charl.

The route was rated under favorable weather conditions; current weather conditions and forecasts must be carefully observed before starting the hike. This hike requires alpine experience, navigation skills in pathless terrain, hiking boots, and hiking equipment.
