Route to the cow alpine pastures of Samnaun, from Unteralp to Alp Trida and further to Alp Bella, one of the highest cow alpine pastures in Europe.

Description
The route starts with a steady ascent at the Church of St. Jakobus in Samnaun-Compatsch (1715 m). After a short climb through a larch forest, the view opens up to the Samnaun valley. At Unteralp stands the Alpstein at the roadside. It is one of the largest erratic boulders in Switzerland. Alp Bella (2380 m) is one of the highest cow alpine pastures in Switzerland. The return journey is via Alp Trida and the Feeride Trail back to Samnaun-Compatsch.
Hidden Gem
The area around Alp Trida features numerous attractive singletrails and is also accessible by cable car from Samnaun-Ravaisch (included for overnight guests along with the local bus).
Safety Note
The route was rated under favorable weather conditions; current weather conditions and forecasts must be strictly observed before starting. This route does not pose particular demands on riding safety or technique.

Directions
- Start at Samnaun-Compatsch, village (1715 m) past the Church of St. Jakobus
- Short ascent through larch forest to Vaidum
- Continue via Unteralp to Alp Trida
- At Alp Trida turn right to Alp Bella (2380 m)
- Return either the same way or directly to Unteralp (steeper alpine path)

- By Rhaetian Railway (from Chur, Landquart/Prättigau or Upper Engadin) hourly to Scuol-Tarasp station
- Continue by PostAuto (from Scuol-Tarasp, or Martina, Cunfin) hourly to PostAuto stop Samnaun-Compatsch, village
- In Samnaun daily hourly service with Samnaun bus
Travel Information
- From the north: via Landquart – Klosters by car shuttle through the Vereina tunnel (Selfranga - Sagliains). Then on H27 towards Scuol and Martina to Vinadi. At the Vinadi junction to Samnaun (approx. 1 hour from Vereina south portal)
- From the east: via Inn Valley road B180 via Landeck to Pfunds, turnoff Kajetansbrücke and via Spiss to Samnaun.
- From the south: via Reschen Pass (Nauders) on B180 to Pfunds, turnoff Kajetansbrücke and via Spiss to Samnaun.
Please note: If you travel to Samnaun, you need a valid travel document (passport, ID), as you cross customs at Martina or Spissermühle.
