San Bernardino - Pass di Passit - Rossa

There are 2 route options starting from the village of San Bernardino leading to the Pass di Passit; one begins at Alp Fracch, near the valley station of the cable car, the other at Lago d'Isola. Both paths pass through a beautiful larch and spruce forest to the Pass di Passit. When we emerge from the forest, a breathtaking panorama awaits us, with the Misox to the south, the village of San Bernardino below us, and the San Bernardino Pass to the north. We ascend through a typical Southern Alpine landscape. Due to the even incline of the terrain, the ascent to the pass is quite pleasant. At 2028m, after about 2 hours, you reach the highest point of the hike, the Pass di Passit with its 2 mountain lakes. From here, it continues through the "Val di Passit" to the "Alp de Lögna" and then to the Calanca Valley. The descent leads down to Valbella and along the river to Rossa.

From the village of San Bernardino there are two possibilities to climb to the Passetti pass: from the Fracch alp, located near the departure of the ski lifts or from Lake Isola. Both routes wind through a magnificent forest of fir and larch trees. Coming out of the woods the view is magnificent, the Val Mesolcina to the south, the village and the pass at a glance looking north. The Passit Pass 2028m, which can be reached in approx. 2h, is typical of the Alpine region especially for the two lakes that characterize it and that offer a wonderful overall picture. From the pass continue down through the Val di Passit to the Alpe de Lögna, and then along the Calancasca river and reach after approx. 2h in Valbella, a small tourist village in Val Calanca. From here continue to Rossa, the last village of the inner Calanca.
