A beautiful route that leads to the San Bernardino Pass. It starts from the village of San Bernardino at 1608 meters altitude and reaches 2065 meters at the Pass.

Description

The departure is scheduled from the village of San Bernardino (Moesa car park or Hostel, with parking meter) to head towards the mineral spring and from there continue ascending towards the Gareida area (road to the left of the Albarella complex). At the Gareida junction take the path that continues straight, which leads along the old Roman paved road until reaching the summit of the Pass, where a breathtaking panorama unfolds before your eyes. During the summer season, the San Bernardino Pass hospice is operational with catering services.

Public Transport

Both from the North and the South, Moesano is reachable via train and postal bus connections (from the North: train Zurich - Chur, then postal bus; from the South: train Chiasso - Bellinzona, then postal bus). 


Direct runs excellently connect Moesano to the capital of Ticino, Bellinzona, and to that of the Canton of Graubünden, Chur.

Travel Information

Thanks to the highway connections from the north A3 Zurich - Sargans and A13 Sargans - San Bernardino and from the south A2 Chiasso - Bellinzona and A13 Bellinzona - San Bernardino, the village is easily reachable throughout the year.
