Description

The next day begins at sunrise – as you should allow enough time during the second stage for a break at the Strudeltöpfe (whirlpools) above Alp Mora.

The trail leads into the wild Lawoitobel and then climbs steeply up the Morgang (an alpine hiking route), gaining 500 meters in elevation up to Mutta Sura. Once at the top, it’s just a stone’s throw to a refreshing footbath in the Strudeltöpfe. The panoramic views across the Domleschg and Surselva valleys are breathtaking.

The descent from Alp Mora down to Bargis remains exciting and requires sure-footedness. Along the historic Polish Trail (Polenweg), you’ll pass old stone shelters once used by shepherds.

The final stretch leads via Alp Lavadignas, across alpine meadows, before the mountain path becomes a forest road after crossing a stream. On the Bargis plateau, you can cool your feet in the stream once more before relaxing at the Berggasthaus Bargis (Bargis mountain inn).

Hidden Gem

Dont forget your binoculars, you may spot some eagles

Safety Note

The section of the trail from Lavoitobel up to Alp Mora via the Morgang should only be attempted in good weather conditions, as it is a very steep alpine path.

Livestock guardian dogs protect the sheep herds on Alp Lavadignas.

Alp Mora is an alpine pasture used for suckler cow farming.
