Description

This ski tour on Schamserberg is located in an ideal ski touring area with countless possibilities. The start is ideally at the Lavanos parking lot slightly before the village. However, you can also start in the village of Wergenstein. With nice overnight options, Wergenstein is an ideal starting point for ski tours and other winter activities. Initially, follow the winter hiking trail with skis uphill toward the Maiensässsiedlung Dumagns and Dumagns Dafora up to Alp Tumpriv. The Alp offers a good opportunity to take a break and enjoy the landscape. Then you can ascend southwest to point 2403 and proceed towards Carnusapass (point 2531). Finally, follow the ridge up to the summit of Piz Tarantschun. You will be rewarded with a magnificent view over Alp Tumpriv. The descent follows the ascent route. Since you are on the summit in the federal hunting reserve, only restricted descent zones are allowed. Observe these at www.wildruhezonen.ch.

The sun terrace of the Restaurant Capricorns is ideal for a regional refreshment after the ski tour.

Travel Information

Coming from the north (Thusis) on the A13, leave the expressway after the Viamala Gorge at the exit "Zillis / Andeer." Then turn right before Zillis towards Mathon/Lohn/Wergenstein and follow the road uphill. Coming from the south (San Bernardino), leave the A13 at the Andeer exit. Drive on the cantonal road to Zillis and follow the signs Mathon/Lohn/Wergenstein uphill.

The capricorn exhibition in the Center da Capricorns in Wergenstein imparts exciting and interesting information about the king of the Alps. The ibex was reintroduced 60 years ago in the region of the nature park and there are now about 300 animals.

The Capricorns hotel was sensitively renovated during the summer months in 2011. This led to the historical building being upgraded. The ambience of the rooms with their original furnishings from the nineteen-thirties could be kept.
