Details

Description

From Ilanz, the route follows the Vorderrhein through an area of national importance into the heart of the gorge to Versam station. The Rhine Gorge is characterized by sandstone walls up to 300 meters high. The "Swiss Grand Canyon" offers unforgettable fauna and flora. Since there is no continuous hiking trail between Versam-Safien station and Trin station, this section must be covered by the Rhaetian Railway. From Trin station, the walk continues on foot. Along the riverbank, the path leads to Reichenau, where the Vorderrhein and Hinterrhein flow together.

Note

Between Versam-Safien station and Trin station, no hiking trail is available due to nature conservation reasons. This section must either be covered by the Rhaetian Railway or walked on foot in about 2.5 hours via Pintrun and Trin Digg.
