Details
Description
The cable car conveniently takes us to the starting point in Cuolm da Vi. On a newly laid hiking trail, we first walk a little downhill until, after a short ascent, we are already standing on the summit of Piz Las Palas. The summit cross is fenced and a sturdy wooden bench ensures that we can enjoy the view in peace.
To continue the hike, we walk a few meters back the same way, then further down into Val Segnas, where we meet the high path Senda Pauli. In July the path is lined with alpine roses, gentian and arnica. A real feast for the eyes. Twice we cross a rushing mountain stream before we enter a fragrant fir forest, after which our destination, Caischavedra, can be seen. The mountain restaurant with sun terrace is open, ideal to finish a hiking day with a refreshing drink. We float back down to the valley with the cable car and the train takes us back to Sedrun.
Variant: In reverse direction the hike is a bit more demanding.
Safety Note
Fairtrail: The Senda Pauli is also a mountain bike trail. It always works with consideration and understanding.
Equipment
Good mountain boots necessary
Directions
From Sedrun train station we start heading east. At Bogn Sedrun we go under the railway line and follow the tracks until the junction to Val Bugnei. In Val Bugnei we leave the alpine pasture on the left, briefly follow the road to the right, then turn left again onto the hiking trail to Bostg. We then descend briefly to the small pass and continue straight ahead along the ridge to the summit. From Las Palas we traverse the second half of the ridge to the Stavlets. There we meet the marked hiking trail back to Sedrun. At the crossroads below Cungieri we choose the narrow path through a small forest until we reach a road. We follow this road to the next right bend. Where the beautiful, carved capercaillie stands, we leave the road again and take the forest path over Scanziala back to Sedrun.
