Description
Day 1: Ilanz-Vrin-Vella
1400 m ascent, 850 m descent, 37 km, approx. 4 hours riding time
From Ilanz, the first town on the Rhine, you ride your e-mountain bike into the culturally rich Lumnezia with its picturesque villages and numerous churches and chapels. The start along the main road (7 km) may not be the most beautiful part of the route. But from Peiden Bogn, it becomes wonderful. We routed the tour over the newly built (2023) uphill trail (222 Nino Schurter Bike). This section is somewhat technically and physically demanding and can be simplified by staying on the main road to Uors. Then follows an enjoyable stretch through Lumnezia, over a suspension bridge in Silgin (can be bypassed), and on to Vrin at the valley end. Now await numerous medium to easy single trails and gravel roads to the bathing lake Davos Munt and onward to Vella, today's destination.
Day 2: Vella-Obersaxen-Trun-Brigels
1450 m ascent, 1450 m descent, 40 km, approx. 4.5 hours riding time
The day's stage takes you around the mountain range with the peaks Piz Mundaun and Péz Sezner to Obersaxen Mundaun. At Bündner Rigi, one can enjoy one of the best panoramas of the Surselva. The short single trail at Sogn Carli (can be bypassed) is a full delight for most. The tour then leads through all of Obersaxen and down to Trun by the Rhine. After the final climb on the village and alpine road to the sun terrace Breil/Brigels, you reach the day's goal.
Day 3: Brigels-Lag da Pigniu-Siat-Ruschein-Ilanz
700 m ascent, 1300 m descent, 31 km, approx. 3 hours riding time
At the start, you head to the impressive waterfalls at the back of Lag da Pigniu. After a well-deserved break, the last kilometers and altitude meters over side and gravel roads to the villages of Siat and Ruschein are tackled. This route leads you via medium-difficulty single trails down to Ilanz. Alternatively, you can choose a downhill ride over the mountain road as your finishing highlight. And then you are back in the lively small town of Ilanz.
Elevation, distances, and riding times are approximate values.
