Description

We leave Trun heading north and below the pretty settlement of Cartatscha we circle an impressive retention basin that protects the village from mud avalanches during storms. A steadily ascending road leads us past Caltgadira through a mountain forest and in numerous hairpin bends up to Alp Munt, where we reach the tree line and the view opens up over the valley.

For the descent we use the singletrails and cross the familiar road three times. It’s a blast! It becomes calmer in the lower part again when we add a detour over Campliun.

Directions

Start is the Trun train station, from where we first head up towards the cantonal road, turn right there and at the next intersection turn left again. Here there is a signpost for the SchweizMobil Route 90 Trun-Laax. 250m later the route turns left towards Casa Depuoz, passes the house and follows this road, which shortly thereafter changes into a natural road. We follow the natural road uphill to its end at 1878 m above sea level. Here we turn left onto the access road to the Maiensäss.

The descent begins at the house. Here the hiking trail turns left. We always follow the signposts until we cross the road we climbed up for the second time. Here the route follows the natural road downhill until about 800m after the hairpin bend at Pt. 1444 the hiking trail turns left away from the road again. We follow the hiking trail downhill until it leads into a wider path at a clearing. This leads directly back to Trun. Those who want to extend the singletrail descent a little turn right at the beginning of the path onto an unmarked hiking trail. This leads down to Campliun. There we follow the hiking trail signs through the village again, cross the cantonal road, and ride back under it to Trun.
