viaMala Alta: Splügen - Montespluga (Etappe 3, hard)

From Splügen (1458 m) on the Splügen Pass road to the P. 1492 bend and on the forest path through the Fugschtwald to the tree line. Now traverse the W slopes of the Räzünscher Alps to the S, below P. 2200 to the soils above the Chistatobel to the shoulder P. 2350. Through a hollow at the S-foot of the Äussere Schwarzhörner up to the Schwarzhorn glacier, which you traverse in a southerly direction to the saddle east of the Mittler Schwarzhorn. To the E, you then reach the Suretta Pass (2849 m). On the firn ridge up to the ridge rocks to the ski depot (approx. 2880 m). On the E side over a steep snow slope (up to 45°) to the N ridge and over it to the summit (watch out for cornices).

From the ski depot to the valley basin in the W of the Suretta Pass up to approx. 2700 m. Now to the SW under the rocky spur of the Inner Schwarzhorn through to P. 2606 and to the S on a prominent shoulder in the SW ridge of the Inner Schwarzhorn. Down into a saddle and east of P. 2506 through the steep hollow to S on the old pass road. Take the road west to Monte Spluga (1905 m).
