Description

The very demanding hike starts at the bus stop "Davos Wiesen Kirche" and leads you through the Chäscherliwald to the Wiesner Alp. It is located at 1940 m above sea level and is considered one of the most important alpine settlements in Graubünden. On the alp, centuries-old huts in Walser style with stalls stand, built in many variations according to a uniform pattern. Here you can scan the first post (No. 56) of today's hike. Then continue over Martrüel to Sandhubel. Like in Iceland, you feel as if you are in this area given the multicolored sand and gravel stripes that run down all sides of this gentle mountain. With 2,762 m above sea level you also reach the highest point of the hike and can credit further points (No. 60) to your View Master account. Congratulations! Over the Valbella Furgga, past the Alteinsee, it goes to Alteiner Fürggli. Here the third post (No. 58) awaits you. Then continue along the Alteingrat. Depending on the weather situation, you may also encounter the “Brocken specter,” which, according to older hikers, arises as follows: When walking on a ridge, if there is fog on one side and sunshine on the other, a shadow image of the hiker can appear on the fog. The outlines are rather coarse, and the shadow image looks like a Brocken. Hence “Brocken specter.” In any case, a phenomenon not easily forgotten. On the Steigrügg, you then reach one of the most remote points of the post network (No. 30). Subsequently, the hike leads back towards Davos Wiesen. But first, in the middle of the gorge descending from Alp Nova - at the "Ursprung" - you should still scan the fifth post (No. 52) of the day. After that, it is not far until you reach the starting point - the bus stop "Davos Wiesen Kirche."
